Shady
This is U-CDX Alpha's Living Shadow, CDX, Can. CD, TDI, TT,  CGC ("Shady"). Shady was the first elkhound in our pack. She never cared much for the silly work we thrust upon her, but always gave it her best. She was a very special girl. She introduced us to the wonderful world of elkhounds, and we've never strayed from the fold. She's gone now at age 15.1, but she was never too tired to give us her best. Goodbye, Shady. We'll always love you!
Shady was the #2 Novice Elkhound in the US when she earned her Companion Dog title from the AKC, and #8 when she earned her Companion Dog Excellent title. Any failures on her record are directly attributable to her trainer (me!) and not her! She even gave me her best when she competed in obedience with an enormous scar on her back from an operation she had to remove a huge cyst. Thank you, Shady. You always gave me your best.

Shady was the first of our SANCTUM elkies to do many things, including being the first to become a therapy dog. She quickly learned to share this honor with Pepper, Sunny, McGee, Gracie, and Zöe. She was a very good girl, and she learned to share being good with many people. We discovered how to train SAR dogs too late for Shady, but I think she'd have done that well too. Yet another reason we'll always love you, Shady!
